Rep. Sobecki Highlights State Report Card Flaws
Makes case for fair school funding during community meeting
State Rep. Lisa Sobecki
(D-Toledo) highlighted flaws with the current State Report
Card and why we need fair school funding during a community
meeting on Monday, March 2 at the Conn Weissenberger Legion
Hall in Toledo, Ohio.
"The current State Report
Card is flawed and does not accurately reflect the hard work
and dedication of our public school staff, teachers, and
students. It unfairly paints schools that are doing a great
job at educated our kids as failing," said state Rep.
Sobecki. "Instead, our State Report Card should be changed
in order to truly inform parents about the great things
happening in our public schools."
In addition to presenting
about the State Report Card, Rep. Sobecki invited Rep. John
Patterson (D-Jefferson) and Rep. Bob Cupp (R-Lima), as well
as Perrysburg Superintendent Tom Hosler, Washington Local
School Board Member Mark Hughes, and Toledo Public School
Board Member Sheena Barnes, to talk about the importance of
adopting a fair school funding formula. Reps. Patterson and
Cupp are joint sponsors of House Bill 305, currently pending
in the House Finance Committee, which would overhaul K-12
Education Funding in Ohio.
