16th Annual African American Festival Cancelled

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the annual Toledo African American Festival and Parade has been cancelled.  The Festival and Parade was slated to take place the weekend of July 17-19, 2020. This is the first time in 16 years that the event will not take place.

“We are saddened that we are unable to hold the festival this year due to coronavirus,” said Suzette Cowell, CEO of Toledo Urban Federal Credit. She continued by saying, “The Toledo community has shown their continued support through out the years and for that we are thankful. We feel, however, that it is in the best interest of the community we serve to cancel the event.”

The African American Festival takes place the third weekend in July each year. The three-day event includes a parade, vendors, concert series, a prayer breakfast and much more. The 2021 event is scheduled to take place July 16-18, 2021.
