Toledo Museum of Art Reopens for MLK Unity Day
On Monday, the Toledo
Museum of Art reopened its doors in time to help the
community celebrate MLK Day. Hundreds of families waited in
line outside in the cold to gain access to the museum’s
exhibits, particularly the “Radical Tradition: American
Quilts and Social Change.”
This quilt by Bisa Butler
is titled “The Storm, the Whirlwind and the Earthquake.” The
large piece of art (88 inches by 50 inches) is a portrait of
Frederick Douglass and is crafted from cotton, silk, wool
and velvet – quilted and appliqued.
