Dr. Martin Luther King Commemoration Planned
On Thursday, January 15, the Sylvania Franciscan Village (SFV)
offers the Dr. Martin Luther King Commemoration to honor the
revered humanitarian, leader and activist. The event begins
at 5 p.m. inside Lourdes University’s Welcome Center located
in Russell Ebeid Hall at
6832 Convent Blvd., Sylvania.
Open to the public, attendees can view Dr. Martin Luther
King’s infamous and stirring “I Have A Dream” speech.
Those gathered will then join in a Candlelight Procession to
the Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel located on the Sisters of
St. Francis grounds. A prayer service at the Chapel will
follow.
“It is important to continue the good work of Dr. King in
achieving equality for all. The Sylvania Franciscan Village
is founded on strong community relationships and our belief
that working together we can accomplish so much more,” says
Sr. Janet Doyle, OP, SFV Administrator.
Formally established in 2009, the Sylvania Franciscan
Village is comprised of all the ministries of the Sisters of
St. Francis, including Lourdes University. The SFV was
formed to harness energies for the greater good and benefit
of those who share the Franciscan mission. Visit
