That’s right because on Sunday, July
19, HCR Manor Care Gives presents BOOKIN’ IT
(5K and 1 Mile) to benefit Read for Literacy and Claire’s
Day and we need you to make this day a huge success.
BOOKIN’ IT
will be held at the Center for Emergency Preparedness at
Owens College, 30150 Tracy Road in Walbridge, OH 43465 with
race time beginning at 8:00 a.m. Registration for BOOKIN’ IT
is taking place now for individuals to register for the 5K
or a 1 Mile option. A fee of $17 will be charged for
registrations received from now until July 17, 2015 for the
5K and $10 for children under 12.
Registrations are accepted on-line at
www.runsignup.com or by fax to 419-242-7039 or in person
at the Read for Literacy office located on the 1st
Mezzanine at the Main Library at 325 Michigan Ave. All
participants registering by July 17, 2015 will receive a
technical running shirt. All registered runners are eligible
for awards. Children under the age of 12 who participate in
the One Mile Fun Run will receive a completion award.
According to Board member and Race
Chairman Martin Allen, “this race and walk are geared for
fun, teamwork and adventure. The course is staffed with
wonderful volunteers and a host of people who are dedicated
to Read for Literacy and Claire’s Day. When you race with
us, not only are you adding to your personal fitness, you
are joining in the fight to end low-literacy in our
community!”
Funds raised during this race will
fund literacy programs for adults, children and families who
want to increase their knowledge of reading. Volunteers work
one-on-one to bring the joy of literacy to our students
every day! We are thankful that more than 2000 students
participate in our programs each year and an additional 6000
people participate in Claire’s Day Book Festival each May.
Together we are enhancing literacy for Northwest Ohio.
HCR Manor Care Gives is this year’s
presenting sponsor. Other sponsors are: Dave’s Running,
Toledo Road Runners Club, Owens College, Lucas County
Sheriff, Lucas County Prosecutor’s Office, Tim Horton’s, and
Target.
