LMHA Reveals Plant To Grow Community Garden at Glendale
Terrace
Special to The Truth
Lucas Metropolitan Housing
Authority revealed its Plant To Grow Community Garden at
Glendale Terrace, 3200 Glendale Ave, last Wednesday, July 8.
During the months of April
and May, LMHA began its multi-site clean up and planting
phase in order to launch the Plant To Grow Community Gardens
– designated to provide access to fresh produce, plants and
flowers, and to educate residents about good nutrition and
healthy eating. With the creation of this unique program,
the goal is to instill neighborhood pride, a sense of
community, economic development and a deeper respect and
love for the environment.
LMHA’s Plant To Grow
Community Gardens are located at three LMHA sites: Flory
Gardens, 3425 Nebraska Ave., Robert Dorrell Manor, 5836
Southwyck Blvd. and Glendale Terrace.

Maintenance of the gardens
will continue throughout the summer and early fall by
participating LMHA senior residents and community partners
including ABC Healthcare and Toledo GROS Toledo Botanical
Garden.
Participating residents
from all three garden sites were invited to Glendale Terrace
last week and were encouraged to continue their involvement
with the community gardens.
“Plant To Grow Community
Gardens is just another extension of our overall initiative,
Well2Unity! to constantly provide opportunities for our
residents for an enhanced quality of life,” said Linnie
Willis, executive director of LMHA. “We strongly encourage
all of the residents to take full advantage of the programs
and services of the new Well2Unity! initiative.”
