Aging Innovation Award, which came with a $1,500 prize. This
award recognizes the innovative partnership between the Area
Office on Aging and National Church Residences in providing
housing and supportive services for older adults.
National Church
Residences (NCR) and the AOoA have worked together for over
a decade to provide care and supportive services for
low-income seniors and disabled adults
NCR manages several housing properties
for the AOoA. But in 2010, after an accident destroyed a
historic housing complex in downtown Toledo, AOoA convinced
NCR to work with them to rebuild and rethink the facility.
The resulting joint venture funded and created a 54-unit
facility known as Renaissance Apartments. Area Office on
