The event will feature the RISE ABOVE Traveling
Exhibit mobile theater and the Squadron’s authentic,
fully-restored WWII P-51C Mustang aircraft on static display
for up-close viewing – a rare treat for attendees as it is
one of only a few like it still flying. The RISE ABOVE
Traveling Exhibit is a fully functional movie theater
featuring an original short inspirational film about the
Tuskegee Airmen.
This immersive experience is housed in a climate controlled
53’ semi trailer with expandable sides and equipped with a
ramp and hydraulic lift to ensure access to all, comfortably
accommodating 30 visitors for each showing. Because of its
dynamic 160-degree panoramic screen, the film creates the
feeling of being in the cockpit soaring above the clouds in
the P-51C Mustang – the signature aircraft of the Tuskegee
Airmen in WWII.
TPS Aviation Center will also be hosting its fourth annual
High School Aviation Expo on Saturday, September 12 and
Sunday, September 13, which will be connected to the CAF Red
Tail Squadron RISE ABOVE Traveling Exhibit at Grand
Aire. At this event, the public will be able to see a 180th
Fighter Wing F-16, a C-47 and a T-6 Texan. Free plane rides
will also be offered to children ages 8 to 17.
The general public is invited to attend the CAF Red Tail
Squadron RISE ABOVE Traveling Exhibit from 10
a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, September 10 through Saturday,
September 12, and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, September
13. This free event will take place at the Grand Aire hangar
at Toledo Express Airport located at 11777 W. Airport
Service Road in Swanton, Ohio. The CAF Red Tail Squadron
RISE ABOVE Traveling Exhibit is hosted by the
Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority, in conjunction with
Grand Aire. For more information on this event, please go to
