Adinkra Symbol Fun!
The word “Adinkra” comes from the combination of two African
cultures, the Ghanian and Akan people of West Africa. Many
of the symbols have meanings just like a Coat of Arms.
Create an Adinkra symbol to take home and display at this
multi-location Library program. February 17 at Point Place
Branch and February 22 at Sylvania Branch.
Foods from Africa
Guests will be able to taste delectable dishes from the
continent of Africa at this multi-location Library program.
Discover some of the wonderful fruits, vegetables, spices
and cooking traditions that were brought to North America
long ago. February 16 at West Toledo Branch and February 22
at Locke Branch.
The History of African American Music
On February 27, the Library is partnering with the Toledo
School for the Arts to present an educational and involved
music lesson on the history of African American music and
how it has influenced both past and present culture. The
program will be held at noon in the McMaster Center at Main
Library.
