The purpose
of the Teach-A-Rama, said Beta Gamma’s Paula Martin,
addressing the teachers, students and parents in attendance,
is to “acquaint teachers, parents and the community with
various aspects of the field of education and to combine
under one umbrella all committees of like nature, for
example, literacy would include committees like Reading
Power, Touch a Child, tutoring and senior teachers and
second careers.”
After
Martin explained the purpose of Teach-A-Rama, Linda Collins,
president of the Maumee Bay Club of NANBPWC, Inc, spoke of
why emergency preparedness is necessary.
Presenters
Capucine Dickerson, B.J. Tucker and Beatrice Daniels
addressed the main topic of the evening – Get Ready! Stay
Ready! – a program based on the Federal Emergency Management
Agency’s plan for households and organizations. Preparation,
they stressed, involves getting a kit, making a plan, being
informed and getting involved.
Closing
remarks were offered by Frances Collins, PhD, and
refreshments followed the evening’s program.
