REGARDS:
The AMAZING RACE Scavenger Hunt, Dinner and Auction NEEDS
YOU!
Special to The Truth
Read for Literacy’s Amazing
Race, Dinner and Auction presented by United HealthCare
Community Plan is just around the corner. We are now
accepting registrations for teams of four to join us
in the HUNT on Saturday, April 9 at 4 pm.
The event starts and finishes at The Pinnacle, 1772
Indian Wood Circle, Maumee, Ohio.
Teams will drive around town
taking photos of clues, earn points and return to The
Pinnacle for a wonderful buffet dinner, raffle and, Live and
Silent Auctions! The fun and camaraderie make this event one
of the most amazing events to participate in. Families are
welcome to participate too. This year’s Mistress of Ceremony
is Kristian Brown from WTVG 13abc. Organizers said
that Brown is sure to keep the more than 300 expected guests
moving all night long.
For $160, teams of four
are treated to dinner, dessert, coffee stations and a
take-home bag of goodies from local vendors.
According to Event Chairman
Bonnie Berland, “The Amazing Race is a wonderful way for
people to come together for a fun evening and at the same
time support Literacy programs in our community. All of the
funds raised will allow Read for Literacy to serve more
students with books, training materials and other items that
make them successful in the classroom and in life!”
Read for Literacy works to
provide a range of literacy services and trainings that
enable children, adults and families the opportunity to
achieve success. In Lucas, Wood and Seneca counties over
39,000 families read at or below the basic 4th grade reading
level. Our goal is to provide quality programming,
appropriate reading material and books to help our students
gain literacy knowledge.
When we work together, our
students will find success in saying “I CAN READ!”
