Quality Time Child
Care Expands Its Early Learning Initiative to Include
Financial Literacy
Special to The Truth
Quality Time Child Care, located at 2315 Dorr Street, has
expanded its early learning initiative to include financial
literacy through a partnership with the Toledo Urban Federal
Credit Union. This unique partnership provides
opportunities for children enrolled at the center to gain a
basic understanding of banking and savings.
The
childcare center deposited $5.00 into a savings account for
every child enrolled if their parents attended a brief
orientation held on Wednesday April 6, 2016. The youth will
not have access to the account until they turn 18 years old
and once the accounts reach $100.00 they will begin to earn
interest.
Students
can earn money through allowances, fundraisers and other
community-supported activities. Accounts will be opened for
all youth who enroll in the center once their parents attend
an orientation. The next orientation will be held in
September.
Quality
Time Child care is a founding member of the Early Learning
Coalition which is made up of community partners and child
care centers with a three star or higher “Step Up to
Quality” rating. The mission of the coalition is to provide
access to quality child care centers to children and
families in the surrounding areas.
