Do you know
who the 43rd president of the United States was?
Are you
smarter than a third grader? Or fourth, fifth or sixth
grader?
Take your
time to answer because, be advised, these kids are really
smart and during the YMCA-sponsored Quiz Bowl competitions,
Toledo Public School elementary students had the opportunity
to display could be accomplished through study and hard
work.
The Quiz
Bowl started in March and wraps up this week with the final
regular season competition at Spring Elementary on Friday.
Seven elementary schools – Spring, Rosa Parks, Leverette,
Sherman, Chase, MLK and Riverside – took turns hosting the
dual matches.
The
students received the questions in advance and had the
opportunity to study them and memorize the answers in order
to be prepared for the competitions.
The Quiz
Bowl is the brainchild of Eric Williams, director of the
Wayman Palmer YMCA, and the administration of TPS. “We want
to do a lot more in the community,” says Williams who
assumed the top job at the Wayman Palmer last fall.
