New Light MBC’s 67th Annual Women’s Day

The women of New Light Missionary Baptist Church wore purple and white on Sunday, May 22 to celebrate the church’s 67th annual Women’s Day.

The morning service opened with a devotion offered by Eloise Jamison, JoAnn Jones, Vanessa Walker and Victoria Colbert of Union Grove MNC.. Rochelle Strong of Jerusalem Baptist served as mistress of ceremony. After the welcome by Latrina Stewart and a response by Tonya Roach of Friendship Baptist, Akisha McCarter spoke of the history of Women’s Day.

The speaker was Ann Colbert Battles, one of the two remaining charter members of the church, who addressed the day’s theme “Touched by the Master’s Hand.”

Rev. Gerald O. Fletcher is the pastor of New Light.

The chairman of the Women’s Day Committee was Cynthia Battles and Latrina Stewart was the co-chairman. Gail Washington and Rebecca Battles served on the Program Committee; Betsy Hill, Vesta Lamb and Callie Owens on the Kitchen Committee and Freddi Roberson, Wanda Newbern and Bertha Parnel on the Finance Committee.
