African American Leadership Caucus Annual Brotherhood Breakfast

Special to The Truth

About 100 people dropped in on the African American Leadership Caucus’s (AALC) Brotherhood Breakfast on Saturday, August 20, at the UAW Local 12 Hall on Ashland Avenue. Union members, Democratic Party members, elected officials and volunteers enjoyed food, fellowship and information provided by the morning’s speakers.

The AALC was formed in 2012 in order to use the democratic political process to promote civic engagement, political engagement and advocacy throughout Lucas County. In addition the group actively promotes its mission of getting more African Americans to the polls and getting more elected to office within the county.

Saturday’s breakfast introduced attendees to speakers Stephen Corey Cunningham, Jawanza Harper, Dannie Ellis, Cheran Lyle, Michael Hayes and DJ Keith Success. Elgin Rogers, leader of AALC, served as moderator for the breakfast.
