About 100 people dropped
in on the African American Leadership Caucus’s (AALC)
Brotherhood Breakfast on Saturday, August 20, at the UAW
Local 12 Hall on Ashland Avenue. Union members, Democratic
Party members, elected officials and volunteers enjoyed
food, fellowship and information provided by the morning’s
speakers.
The AALC was formed in
2012 in order to use the democratic political process to
promote civic engagement, political engagement and advocacy
throughout Lucas County. In addition the group actively
promotes its mission of getting more African Americans to
the polls and getting more elected to office within the
county.
Saturday’s breakfast
introduced attendees to speakers Stephen Corey Cunningham,
Jawanza Harper, Dannie Ellis, Cheran Lyle, Michael Hayes and
DJ Keith Success. Elgin Rogers, leader of AALC, served as
moderator for the breakfast.
