Members of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated held their Area 3 meeting in Toledo, Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Promedica’s Donald Kellermeyer Education Center. The one-day series of professional development workshops, program development trainings and sorority news also included two local service projects.

Attendees were asked to bring actual dimes for March of Dimes, which were collected at registration. Also the sorority’s youth affiliate, the Rhoer Club, prepared meals and provided service hours at Ronald McDonald House of NW Ohio.

“Sigma Gamma Rho is known for the service we provide and this meeting is constructed to give the membership tools and resources needed to meet their needs,” said Regional Director Delia A Harris.

An estimated 200 sorority women, Philo Affiliate members and Rhoer Club members travelled from various cities including: Akron, Cleveland, Indianapolis, Chicago, Columbus, and Detroit.

"The 2016 Central Region Ohio State Meeting marks the second largest gathering of our members of the state apart from our annual Regional Conference,” explained Harris.

The meeting was organized by local affiliate, Iota Theta Sigma Chapter of Toledo, Ohio under the leadership of local president Kimberly Grable and Area hostess Artisha Lawson.

Members of the Regional Board of Directors, in collaboration with our State Director Tia Goodlett of Worthington, OH and members of the local Toledo Alumnae Chapter planned and hosted this special event.  Under the leadership of local Basileus Kimberly Grable and Hostess Artisha Lawson, the membership and affiliates executed service projects, workshops and training events to help members enhance their impact in the various communities where the sorority operates in the state of Ohio,” said Harris.

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc. was founded in 1922 by seven educators at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. Currently over 90,000 women across five regions complete various local and international initiatives under the motto, “Greater Service, Greater Progress.” The sorority’s official affiliates are Philo Affiliate and Rhoer Club, and service projects are under the slogan, “H3, It’s All About Me!” which focuses on Healthy Living, Healthy Choices and Healthy Generations.
