YMCA Hosts
Legislative Luncheon
Special to The Truth
The YMCA of Greater Toledo hosted a Legislative Luncheon
last week in order
to stay connected with
local elected officials and give them a snapshot of the many
ways the YMCA is living its cause in the Toledo area.
President and CEO Brad Toft said, “The YMCA of Greater
Toledo and our elected officials share a mutual goal to
improve the quality of life for the people in our community.
The luncheon was an opportunity for the Y to share the
impact stories of the work we do helping people become
better individuals.”
As a powerful organization in the State of Ohio, the Y
provides programs that enhance the quality of life for 1.6
million Ohioans in 165 communities. The YMCA of Greater
Toledo is a leader in the state, serving over 100,000 people
in northwest Ohio of all ages, incomes and abilities through
fitness programs, youth camps and leadership programs,
swimming lessons, day care services, team sports and a
number of disease prevention programs.
Those in attendance at the luncheon included Ohio Senate
Representative Edna Brown (D) District 11; City of Toledo
Mayor Paula Hicks-Hudson; Toledo City Council members Yvonne
Harper, District 4; Tom Waniewski, District 5; At-Large
Council Members Rob Ludeman, Sandy Spang and Larry Sykes;
and Willa Ebersole, YMCA State Lobbyist.
The luncheon fostered understanding by developing and
cultivating collaborations to help individuals and
strengthen our community.
