Claire’s Day and Read for Literacy Announce Formal Merger
Special to The Truth
After working in
partnership, Read for Literacy and Claire’s Day, Inc.
formally entered into a merged and strategic alliance on
March 23, 2015 at 6:00 PM at the Maumee Branch Library. This
marks a new beginning for two stellar organizations.
Read for Literacy was
founded in 1985 and has served as a lead advocate in
literacy programming for adults, children and families since
its inception. Claire’s Day was founded in 2001 in memory of
Claire Lynsey Rubini who passed away from a heart condition
at age 10. Dedicated to
inspiring children and families to be lifelong readers, the
programs and services embrace her favorite activities,
including telling stories, dancing and most of all, reading.
Going forward all programs
and services of the merged organizations will remain intact.
Read for Literacy will serve as the parent organization and
Claire’s Day will become a signature line of service
affording leadership stability and the promise of new
chapter in our shared story! We are especially grateful to
the Toledo Community Foundation for gifting a grant that
allowed the organizations to identify the strategies that
led to this merger agreement.
Founders of Claire’s Day
and Claire’s parents, Brad and Julie Rubini will continue to
be engaged in the organization where they will serve on a
newly formed, Emeritus Board.
“It is not an ending, but a beautiful new beginning,” said
Julie Rubini. “We are entrusting Claire’s Day to an
organization with a strong Board of Trustees and are truly
honored by the commitment of staff, volunteers, and the
community to continue to support the united organization. I
can honestly see Claire, smiling from ear to ear, pumping
her fist in the air and saying, “YES!””
