The Community Solidarity
Response Network of Toledo held a Black Lives Matter418
Rally, April 18 at the Frederick Douglass Community
Association.
The group, which formed in November following a grand jury
decision not to indict Officer Darren Wilson in the shooting
death of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., works to
“facilitate progressive community–based events that help to
foster self-development, and discuss measures to hold local
leadership accountable to their sworn duties. Over 200
community members as well as several local organizations
came out to show support.
The crowd was entertained
by singer Paige Jenkins, Touch A Dream Dance Studio, Imagine
Clay Ave. Step Team, DJ Lyte-N-Rod and Cuntry of 97.3 FM.
Speakers for the event
included, Washington Muhammad; Comedian Darrell Banks;
Gerald Rose, founder/CEO of New Order National Human Rights
Organization and Mayor Paula-Hicks Hudson. |
