PRIZM
Creative Community and Way Public Library Announce “No Mic
Night,” Author Support Group
Special to The Truth
“No Mic Night”, the author support group
co-sponsored by The Way Public Library and PRIZM Creative
Community will meet on Thursday Nov. the 19 from 7-9 p.m.
at the Way Library, 101 E. Indiana Ave. in Perrysburg.
Guest facilitator for the meeting will be author Jean Ann
Geist.
As a lifelong writer inspired by years on the
staff of BGSU’s renowned Browne Popular Culture Library,
four years ago Jean Ann Geist began a quest – to create a
world of characters, plant them in the fertile fields of
Northwest Ohio, and nurture them into the award winning
novel of romantic intrigue, Only in
the Movies.
Her recent book, Only on the Radio, expands
this world, bringing back old friends and introducing new
acquaintances with their own stories to tell.
Only in the Movies was first place winner of
book-length fiction in The Ohio Professional Writers
Communication Contest. Only on the Radio is available
at select area book and gift shops and via
www.JeanAnnGeist.com
.
Geist will begin the evening by sharing
tidbits about her love for writing, and her personal
experiences with the world of publishing. The bulk of the
evening will be spent on peer review, where participants can
share in progress work. Attendees who choose to share work
for peer review should bring 12+ copies to share, and can
expect to receive inspiration, motivation, and useful
feedback within an informal atmosphere. One need not share
a manuscript in order to attend and learn from these
informative meetings. Please bring paper, pencil or digital
media for note taking or potential exercises that may be a
part of the evening dialogue. This FREE and open to the
public program encourages the participation of all community
members.
To
participate in optional at home/ pre-class writing exercises
and writing prompts for potential inspiration the community
is encouraged to join the PRIZM “No Mic Night” email
distribution list to receive this information which is
generally distributed two weeks prior to each class. Using
this plan ahead format, the group successfully manages it’s
time each meeting to maximize time for peer review. Simply
email

with your name, phone number, and email, with NO MIC NIGHT
in the subject line to be added to the communication list.
