ASSETS Toledo Alumni: Speed Networking Event
By Carla Yvette
ASSETS Toledo Alumni held their first Speed Networking event
May 11 at Evolution, Reynolds Rd. The event was an
opportunity for entrepreneurs to meet, greet and collaborate
in order to build new business relationships with other
business owners around Toledo but with a twist from your
typical networking event.
Participants had five minutes each to pitch their business
to other business owners looking
to expand their networks. Tara Johnson, president of
the Alumni Association said the purpose of the event was to
raise money for the Alumni Association and to let people
know that the Alumni Association is relevant.
Said Johnson, “This is ASSETS way of participating with the
community to bring businesses together that otherwise
wouldn’t know each other. It also gives our members an
opportunity to practice pitching their business.”
ASSETS Toledo is a Service for Self Employment Training and
Support that provides practical, experience-based training
for those starting or expanding a small business. Their
mission is to assist self-motivated individuals in northwest
Ohio who have a personal vision for self-employment and
small business initiatives, but limited resources. ASSETS
provides hands-on-training, peer networking, and support
network and capital.
ASSETS alumnus Dennis D Seldon, an Independent Aflac Agent
said he attended the Speed Networking event to communicate
to business owners the importance of voluntary supplemental
insurance. He said: “For Business owners looking to attract,
retain, and increase an overall productivity of their
business, Aflac will be a good fit for them. Supplemental
insurance helps provide peace of mind to their employees, at
no cost to the business owner.” Seldon said the networking
event was a great tool in helping businesses promote their
products, and services.
