2015 Fatherhood Walk – “What Do We Want?” – “Fathers!”
Sojourner’s Truth Staff
For five years now,
R.E.S.T.O.R.E. founder Mark Robinson has led hundreds of
fathers, women and children on what is known as the annual
Fatherhood Walk though a central city neighborhood. On June
20, the two mile walk, which is held to raise the awareness
of the importance of the roles fathers play in the lives of
their children, was once again part of June’s significant
activities.
The walk started and ended
at Central Catholic High School and wound its way through
surrounding neighborhoods. Family activities took place
afterwards on the lawn of Central Catholic as Robinson was
the keynote speaker for the day.
The event was sponsored by
the City of Toledo, McDonalds, Seaway Marketplace, Lucas
County Family and Children First Council, House of Day
Funeral Home, Systems Dynamics Communications, Lamar
Advertising, the Toledo Fire Department, Care Source, The
Ridge Project, the National African Male Wellness Walk
Initiative, Franklin Park Lincoln Mercury, Buckeye
CableSystem, Toledo Area Ministries, NPI, The Andersons,
Kroger and Target.
R.E.S.T.O.R.E., Inc. was
founded in 2006 by Robinson, a social worker by profession
and currently serving as executive director for Toledo Area
Ministries. |
