The 11th Annual Prayer Breakfast

Sojourner’s Truth Staff

Once again, the African American Festival got off to an early start with a prayer breakfast held on Friday morning, July 17. This year’s event was held at Bethlehem Baptist Church and featured prayers offered by a host of area ministers, song selections by Darius Coleman and a tribute to a number of honorees.

The Toledo Urban Federal Credit Union, under the leadership of CEO Suzette Cowell, organizes the annual event.

This year’s honorees included: Toledo Mayor Paula Hicks-Hudson; Rhoda Adams-Allen; Rev. Derek Arnold; Mike Baumgartner; Rev. Sheila Early; Rosalind Welch; Sis. Virginia Welsh; Rev. Timothy Pettaway, Sr; Brittany Smith and Ray Wood.

Those offering prayers at the breakfast were: Rev. Cordell Jenkins, pastor of Abundant Life Ministries; Rev. Robert Lyons, Sr., pastor of Greater St. Mary’s Baptist; Rev. Stanley Clark, pastor of United Visisons Church; Bishop M.C. McGhee, pastor of Serenity Church; Elder Alisa Key of People’s Missionary Baptist Church; Rev. Timothy Pettaway, pastor of Walk the Word and Bishop Brehon Hall, pastor of Greater New Psalmist Church.
