The 11th Annual African American Festival Parade
As usual, a
parade down Dorr Street on Saturday morning was one o the
signature events of the weekend African American Festival.
Who doesn’t love a parade!
Schools,
businesses, small cars and big horses were all part of the
procession. However, elected officials and those campaigning
to become elected officials comprised the bulk of the
marchers.
Mayor Paula
Hicks-Hudson brought along the largest contingent of
boosters, mayoral candidate Sandra Drabik-Collins brought
along a camel and a goat and former Mayor Carty Finkbeiner
brought along his unbounded energy and enthusiasm.
And, as
usual the route was lined with spectators who had set up
their chairs well in advance in order to have clear views of
the festivities.
