The Toledo African
American Chamber of Commerce held its first annual Black Tie
Gala on Thursday, August 8 at the Ramada Inn on Secor Road
to celebrate the concept of “Moving the African American
Community Forward.”
“The purpose of the Gala
is to communicate to our community and the community at
large what the Toledo African American Chamber is all about,
who we are and what we do,” said Chamber President Jay
Black. “And also to express our desire to partner with any
other groups or organizations that can help us achieve our
mission. By doing that we strengthen not only the
underserved community of this area but also the entire
community – all of northwest Ohio.”
The keynote address for
the evening was presented by Wendy Gramza, president of the
Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce.
Two outstanding business
executives were honored by TAACC at the Gala: Erik Johnson
of Ivy Development Agency and Florence Buchanan, vice
president of competitive marketing at Buckeye Cablesystem.
