Ohio Black Caucus President Reece on the Passing of Civil
Rights Leader Julian Bond
“Today we loss another giant in the movement. Julian Bond
was a former Georgia State Legislator and was a fighter for
justice and voting rights as a leader in the Student
Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), and as the former
Chairman of the NAACP. I was blessed to have shared the
stage with him at the 50th Anniversary of the March on
Washington and to meet with him during the 2010 NAACP
National Convention in my hometown of Cincinnati. Let us
honor his legacy and commitment to civil rights by fighting
for permanent solutions to protect our voting rights and by
taking action on meaningful justice reforms.” |
