I Pledge Allegiance....

By Lafe Tolliver, Esq
Guest Column

The GOP circus is now reeling from Donald Trump's recent blatantly racist statements regarding the Indiana born federal judge who is handling one of the civil class action lawsuits against the now defunct Trump University.

You know, the non-accredited university that puffed up its programs and promises to the naive and gullible that they too could be Trump-like in their real estate undertakings if they were to fork over tens of thousands of dollars for his "advice" about making big bucks in real estate.

Lafe Tolliver, Esq

Now with words like, "scam" and "fraud" being bandied around about Trump University and its shrill salesman, Donald Trump, the New York Attorney General (another class action case in NY about the same allegations including possible racketeering charges against the presumptive Republican presidential nominee) has also been proceeding against this so-called university and its snake oil sales pitches.

The judge in the California case, has been vilified by Trump and has been called a "hater" by Trump in a calculated move to have the judge personally remove himself from the case and which, if it were to happen, would have Trump bellowing like a walrus that he can even take down judges because he is such a tough counter puncher!

What makes this case so egregious is that, despite Trump blasting a well-respected federal judge due to his Mexican heritage, Trump believes that such a background disqualifies this judge to preside over his case because Trump is "building a wall."

Trump is doing his usual bullying of anyone whom he remotely perceives can hurt or harm him and Trump is hoping for a knockout against Judge Curiel and, if so, the trial would be delayed.

What is painful to watch is these so-called leaders of the GOP buring their collective heads in the sand and refusing to renounce or denounce or withdraw their support from Trump because they want to keep political favor with whomever is their nominee.

Courage and integrity and principles have left the GOP house with these cringing cowards who would rather turn a blind eye to the bombastic Trump as he blatantly engages in racial acrimony because the judge is of Mexican heritage.

The GOP leadership (if that what they still are) are in bed with a serial verbal abuser and they love it to be so! Very, very few of the GOP leadership have stood up to this

racist behavior by Trump and called him out on the carpet. No, they would rather bleat as sheared, shivering sheep and avoid taking a moral stand against Trump's divisive rhetoric.

The Republican National Committee headed up by the pie back of all pie backs,

Chairman Reince Priebus, should withdraw their support from Trump and do the right thing but they are unable to do so because early on they sold their besotted souls to the Trump in return for a mess of spoiled political pottage.

Now, they have shaken hands with the devil and the stain remains and will so remain for years to come.

It is almost like watching political porn. You see and hear things that are an abomination to the principles of American democracy, fair play and justice but yet the GOP actors keep on displaying themselves with both no shame and verbal gibberish, that you want to take a hot shower after you listen to their tongue tying reasons why they continue to support their party's nominee.

So, I only thought it proper and correct that, since they are wedded to this political demagogue who is trying to outdo the late Alabama Governor George Wallace in spewing racial vitriol, these conscience-seared politicos take a pledge to Donald Trump and since they have already endorsed him, why not?

Here is their hastily drawn up pledge to Donald Trump that is being pushed by the GOP national office to show party unity:

"I pledge allegiance to Donald Trump and all that he stands for including race baiting and racial hatred and the division of America into ethnic camps. In spite of common sense and moral certitude, I will continue to support Trump in spite of the political cost to me because I am weak and need to be part of something greater than myself.

I pledge to grin and smile in his face and even though he has wrongfully harmed others with his rhetoric, I am willing to look past that because winning at any cost is what is most important to me. I will put aside any moral scruples about Donald Trump and will close my ears to anything that is said against him because winning is everything to me and my political party."

So signed by proxy:

Congressman Paul Ryan

Senator Mitch McConnell

Senator Marco Rubio

Governor Chris Christie

Dr. Ben Carson

and a host of other GOP cowardly leaders

I have even heard that to forge party unity and to bond with the delegates at the upcoming Republican convention in July in Cleveland, that the RNC has printed out by the thousands the following song to be sung, with gusto, before each day's proceedings. It is sung to the tune of the hymn, Amazing Grace:

Amazing Trump how great his sound that draws a delegate like me,
I once was brave but now a fool,  a sap for any crass stupidity.

I once was lost but now am found because I gave my self to Trump
Twill be Trump that will bring me through and he I will never dump.

Praise Trump....Praise Trump...Praise Trump...Praise Trump!
